I called Precision this morning from work hoping to have my garage door fixed today. The person on the phone was very nice and accommodating. After speaking with to the receptionist I knew the price was a little high but it seemed as though the company was one worth working with. When the technician showed up he tried to up sell my wife to the price point of over 3 times that of which was discussed on the phone. She called me at work and spoke with the technician and the price came down about 30%. Still 2 times the amount discussed. It is unfortunate that companies feel they can take advantage of people in this manner. I do know the cost of this job. I was at work and wanted to get the job done. I was willing to pay for that convenience of the work done. I was not willing to be taken advantage of. The technician also tried to tell my wife how our house is not safe. This tactic is not acceptable. My house is safe. The garage doors have been working fine. I had to pay a high price for this unfortunate experience. I will not make this mistake again.

Mr. Leaf, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. On 1/27/15 you called Precision Door to request a technician come to your home as you had a broken spring on your garage door. We sent our technician out right away. Upon arrival the technician performed a 25-point inspection on your 3 Garage Doors and Openers. After the thorough inspection it was determined on Invoice #80428 that the following problems were found with your doors. Door #1 had a broken extension spring, frayed lift cables as well as safety cables that were not secured as recommended by the manufacturer. Door #2 was unbalanced, had frayed lift cables and the safety cables were not secured properly. Door #3 was unbalanced due to fatigued extension springs, frayed cables and extension safety cables that were also not properly secured. At that point Ms. Leaf understood and wanted to go ahead and have the doors repaired but of course wanted to speak with you first. When speaking with the technician regarding the prices and how they were more than you wanted to spend, or thought they should be, the technician gave you other options for only having partial repairs done; explaining the drop in price. Accordingly, Being a licensed contractor that specializes in safe garage door repair we follow both the DASMA and IDA recommendations for repairs and procedures; anything that can present a possible hazard such as the items listed above cannot be ignored. We install our products in accordance with specific installation instructions provided by the manufacturer. The Federal Register states by the Secretary of the Consumer Product Safety Commission “Keep Garage Door Properly Balance. See owner’s manual. An improperly balanced door could cause severe injury or death. Have a qualified service person make repairs to cables, spring assemblies and other hardware” We would love for you to give us a chance to fix your door in a safe and proper manner and would be willing to waive the service fee ($125 value) to return to your home in 2015 should you decide to have us do the work on your doors. This place is a total scam! Charged me $85, to tell me they needed $644 to fix my door. Called another company which fixed my door for half that amount. Door works great now.

Matt and his apprentice did a great job! They were on time and up front with options and assessment. I wasn't looking to drop this type of $$$ right before Christmas, but when the spring broke in the tension bar, I couldn't pass up the deal. I would recomend to anyone in need of garage door repair.

Our door opener was broken -- I called you Sunday night and at around 9:30 Monday morning your techs arrived. They inspected our entire system, made the required repair and recommend a few PM issues that needed to be addressed. They fixed my door, cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional. If I ever need service again -- I will be calling you.

The technician arrived on time and worked nonstop for 4.5 hours. He replaced every component of the door except for the operator (it worked fine and did not need replacing). The door was an exact copy of the original door in place for 16 years. The door worked perfectly and the install was done professionally. Had a problem the next day with the door not closing. Problem was caused by an object getting lodged in the door track. This was my fault but the company quickly sent a technician to assist. I appreciate the sense of urgency to respond to our call. A couple of issues to mention: 1. The door has a vacation lock that secures the door when engaged manually. The warranty information states that installing a vacation lock with an electric operator will void the warranty. Is this correct? 2. When asked about lubricating the door hinges, the technician stated that I should use a silicon-based lubricant. The owners manual states that a non-silicon-based lubricant should be used. Which is correct? Thanks!

Had to have the roller bar replaced. Called Precision and someone came in less than two hours. Technician (Joe) explained all options and was very professional and personable. He finished in less than an hour. I am very impressed. I would definitely recommend Precision to others.

My garage door was builders grade and split in the middle. Set-up appointment and they were right on time. The technician (Matthew) was right on time and was very knowledgeable. After providing the options for repair I elected to purchase a Heritage Garage Door. They said three weeks for delivery but it was installed in two weeks. Matthew was very professional and installed the door with great care. He was here for 6 hours and worked steady with no breaks. He made sure every aspect of the install was working optimally before leaving. After researching replacement doors at Lowe's this was a much better choice. The door was pricey but top of the line! The price of the Lowe's door was $1800 plus $500 for install fee and limited warranty. The Heritage door was $2400 including install fee $85 and a lifetime warranty for the door and hardware. The Heritage door is made of 24 gage steel front/back with insulating foam in between. It's wind rated and requires no additional bracing like the Lowe's brand door. All in all experience was very good. Would definitely recommend this company for those in need of basic repair to a complete garage door set-up! Matthew did a great job!

Great service! Initial call was for garage door opener repair on a very old Lift Master unit. Unit needed to be replaced, as well as old springs and cables. I decided to get new rollers too at the last minute. Technician, Matt (Matthew), was great. Very knowledgeable and professional. I'm glad the other "local" garage door repair shop never returned my phone call. Will definitely use Precision for all my Garage/Garage Door Opener needs. Outstanding service!! Matt M not only fixed the obvious problem (failed high tension spring), but he explained in detail what could/should be replaced to get the garage door in top working order. His honesty was evident by explaining which parts did not need to be replaced and why. He explained the workings of the garage door so I clearly understood everything, and he showed me how to conduct regular preventive maintenance to keep the door working for a long time. We noticed this morning that the wall unit garage door opener was flashing, and the two remotes were not working. Not knowing what we could do, I called your company to see if someone might be available today in the Stafford area. Kayla determined that Jed Hawk would be available between 2:00 and 5:00. Later in the afternoon, it was learned that Jed was running late for the appointment. First Heather, then later someone else called to advise of the slippage and to apologize for the inconvenience, and I assured them that we would be home. Jed finally arrived at 7:10, and he also apologized for the inconvenience. After we discussed the basic problem, Jed was able to correct the problem very quickly. I also asked him if he had an additional remote for a third vehicle I now have, and when he verified that he did, he again very quickly was able to get it programmed to work with my opener. During our conversation I inquired about renewing our annual preventive maintenance visits. He immediately agreed that he could do a complete inspection this evening to preclude me having to reschedule a visit. This excellent customer service reminded me why I immediately called your company to correct my problem. I had used Precision Garage Door company for a few years in 2009 through 2011 and the service by Jim Rost. The service today shows that your company is still at the top of the service providers in the garage door business. Thanks very much to all of your staff members who assisted me today, particularly Jed Hawk. They all deserve my appreciation and represented your company in the manner you desire.
