I was pleased with the service to replace my wall unit. Cameron did a good job in fixing my issue. My main concern is how the company handles pricing of services. Cameron told me he would do the inspection of the unit which would take about 15 mins. When I came back to check on him about 10 mins later her was in the truck talking on phone discussing replacement part for my wall unit. He told me during his inspection he saw some issues, but didn’t elaborate on these issues & he didn’t do anything regarding these issues. When he was finished replacing my wall unit, he gave me my invoice total & I paid. When I received invoice by email I saw I was charged $65 for preventative maintenance which he did not do. The $85 charge for the visit only includes the inspection & labor for the visit. I attempted to resolve the discrepancy on the $65 charge with the company, but was denied as they said work was done & I agreed for representative to continue work. I do recommend this company for your garage door needs, but also recommend you witness everything the representative does during the visit.

However, we are sorry to hear you are disappointed with a portion of the service that was provided. What you described in your review does not fit what Precision Garage Door of Northern Virginia stands for. Cameron completed the 25 point safety inspection as well as the preventative maintenance, and was on the phone with the owner discussing which wall console would be best. It is our policy to review and approve all work before we begin. When you reached out to our office with your concern, I offered to have Cameron call to discuss further and explain what was included in the preventative maintenance service, but you declined. The tech was on time and told us what the issue was and gave us 2 options, the 1st option was the least expensive but would not resolve the problem but would get the garage door working, the second was was quite a bit more but would take care of the entire issue. In the end we went with the more expensive option since we didn't want any other issues in the near future. The work was done in a very timely manor and everything was explained to us before and after the job was complete, the only issue that I have is that I did not do my research and cost comparison so the price of the repair seemed quite high but we needed it to be done and the job was quickly and done well. 3 Stars for the cost of the repair 5+ stars for the tech and the quality of his work. I would recommend the service after you do the research for the repairs to be done.
Although satisfied with the work performed, I was completely unsatisfied with the timeliness of my appointment. I was given a time frame of 1-4 p.m. I got a call that the technician would arrive closer to the 4 p.m. time. He finally arrived at 5:20 p.m. and I had to cancel a personal appointment due to the delay.

The technician was prompt, helpful and very polite. However my problem did not get solved. The home office did not relay the garage door information that I supplied to the technician. He did not have the parts on hand to repair the door. I called two weeks in advance to give plenty of time to order parts. I explained this quite clearly when I made the appointment. This was very disappointing and now I am back to square one.

Pro.: I like the service provided by Precision. It provides the technician's name, and calls me before the technician arrives. The technician is very good and friendly. Con: I don't like the way I am charged. When the technician came about a week ago, he replaced spring and other things. I paid $615.00. After a week, I found that my garage door got stuck and I needed to try a few times to close it. I called Precision and wanted the technician to come back for troubleshooting. When Kevin came, there is nothing wrong. The problem cannot be reproduced. Kevin said he needed to charge me $85 for this visit. He claimed that the problem was not on the part he did, and therefore I need to pay as if it is a new visit. I disagreed because I am not fully convinced that it was NOT the part he has done. I have to say that I am not an expert and cannot judge what he said is true or not. But the problem did happen when he did the work a week ago. I don't want to pay for his second visit. He said it was OK that I don't pay, but no business for me any more. His attitude is very friendly, and I know it is the company policy. But it is not reasonable to me. If I didn't ask him to come for the first time, I would not ask him to come this time. I think I should not be double charged.

Mr. Gong, Thank you for taking the time to post a response. We certainly understand your concern that because our technician was just at your home the following week, that the issue that you were experiencing was due to the work that we had done. Unfortunately, when you get into issues with the operator, just because the problem isn't there at the moment, doesn't mean there isn't a problem right around the corner. When we completed our safety check the first visit, everything was working properly, both the door and operator. When you called us back to your home, you stated the same problem as when we were originally out at your home occurred. If when we returned, there was an issue with the work we did, we would have taken care of the issue for no charge; however, after doing another inspection and testing the door, we found nothing wrong. The door was working properly, on every attempt to use the door. If we cannot reproduce an issue, we cannot fix an issue that "might" be there, and unfortunately, our visit to the home is not free in that case. I hope this clarifies some concerns you may have had. At this point, we do have you on a do not return list. Until we recieve payment for the service call on our last visit, we will be unable to make any repairs to your home, even if an issue occurs with the parts we installed. If you would like to take care of the amount owed, we will gladly take you off our list. Precision Door Service
